A Community Environmental & Painting Project with Earth Celebrations’ Artist-in-Residence Katherine Freygang.
Earth Celebrations invites Lower East Side organizations, youth, students, schools, artists, and individuals to join our interactive Ecological City: Memory Mural-East River Park Project with our artist-in-residence Katherine Freygang.
- DESCRIPTION– Participants are invited to create and contribute photocopies of photos, drawings and text memories of our beloved East River Park for the mural. The mural will be painted in workshops in April and include collaged photos and text. Search your phones, photo albums and mind for visuals and your favorite memories of East River Park, the shoreline, architectural features, trees, plants, flowers, ball fields, picnics and favorite events. You can include drawings of your memories, poems and any data and facts regarding features of the East River Park. The banner will be painted in workshops at Earth Celebrations and in collaboration local residents, youth and with various partner organizations including Lower East Side Ecology Center, Waterfront Alliance, University Settlement (PS63) and LUNGS-LES United Neighborhood Gardens. The finished mural will be displayed on a garden fence for the Ecological City – Art & Climate Solutions Pageant on Saturday May 14, 2022 from 11am-5pm.
- CREATE –Please send color photocopies (or black and white) of photos, text and drawings transferred onto paper no larger than 8 1/2 x 11 sheet that could include several smaller size photos and text that can be used to collage into the mural. You can sign or type your name to the memory – add a date of the memory and other key information.

- DELIVER by email by MARCH 15, 2022. Once you find your photos (or create drawings and text) photocopy them to an 81/2 x 11 paper, scan and send a PDF copy to Earth Celebrations via email with SUBJECT HEADER “MEMORY MURAL IMAGES”
